Ayala Land named among TIME's Most Sustainable Companies of 2025

Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) has been named to TIME Magazine’s World’s Most Sustainable Companies 2025, solidifying its position among top global leaders in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance.

ALI is the only Philippine real estate company and one of just two Philippine firms overall recognized in the global ranking, which evaluated more than 5,700 companies across 21 industries and 36 countries.

TIME, in partnership with global data firm Statista, conducted the ranking using a rigorous four-stage methodology that assessed over 20 ESG indicators. This international recognition underscores ALI’s long-standing commitment to shaping resilient, low-carbon communities while delivering long-term value for stakeholders.

"This global distinction affirms that sustainability is not just a pillar of our strategy—it's embedded in the way we build, grow, and create impact," said Robert S. Lao, Chief Sustainability Officer of Ayala Land. "It pushes us further to lead in shaping greener, more resilient communities for generations to come."

A Leader in Green Urbanism

Ayala Land stands out for its end-to-end approach to sustainability, integrating environmental stewardship from land acquisition and master planning to construction and long-term property operations. This comprehensive strategy has allowed the company to achieve significant milestones:

About 96% of gross leasable area (GLA) across its malls, offices, and hotels is now powered by renewable energy, covering 101 commercial properties as of end-2024.

ALI diverted 32% of total waste from landfills across both operations and construction sites, with pilot programs underway for plastics, food waste, and residual waste—key steps toward its Zero Waste to Landfill target by 2030.

The company has 34 green-certified buildings, covering more than 1.16 million square meters (sqm) of gross floor area (GFA), with certifications from LEED, BERDE, WELL, and EDGE.

Green mobility is a growing focus, with investments in pedestrian zones, bike lanes, EV charging stations, and improved access to public transportation.

Science-Based Climate Ambition

Reinforcing its climate agenda, Ayala Land has committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, with near-term goals of cutting absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by 2030. These targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), aligning ALI with the most stringent global standards for corporate climate action.

ESG Governance and Transparency

Ayala Land discloses its sustainability performance using globally recognized ESG frameworks, including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), SASB, TCFD, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is also consistently rated by leading ESG benchmarks, including CDP, S&P Global CSA, MSCI, and Sustainalytics.

Beyond environmental outcomes, ALI continues to drive social impact through programs that advance employee health and safety, tenant engagement, and inclusive community development, making sustainability a shared value across stakeholders.

Elevating Philippine Sustainability on the World Stage

Ayala Land joins Globe Telecom, also under the Ayala Group, as one of only two Philippine companies on TIME’s 2025 global list, reinforcing the Ayala Group’s leadership in sustainable transformation.

The 2025 list features 500 companies globally that scored highest in ESG performance, with the financial and tech sectors dominating. Ayala Land’s inclusion signals growing global recognition of real estate’s critical role in climate action and urban resilience.
