Concentrix, the largest information technology-business process outsorcing (IT-BPO) employer in the Philippines, has invested nearly PHP1.02 billion to establish its second site in this highly urbanized city, named Bacolod AIU, according to a report by Philippine News Agency.
The global services and technology leader’s expansion is considered "game-changing" for Bacolod's BPO sector by the city's Department of Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion (DLEDIP).
“This news is received with great excitement, especially after we were characterized as ‘muted’ by the CRBE (commercial real estate services and investment firm) in 2023,” DLEDIP head Frances Mae Llamas told the Philippine News Agency on Wednesday.
Concentrix Bacolod AIU, strategically located near the existing Concentrix Bacolod SanParq site in Barangay Mandalagan, occupies four floors covering 8,246.40 square meters within the AIU Centre. The new facility will accommodate around 1,800 employees, referred to as “game-changers,” and offers shared areas for more than 1,300 additional team members from the older site.
“We are looking forward to a prospective collaboration with Concentrix for the training of their near hires,” Llamas added.
In a statement, Amit Jagga, executive vice president and chief business officer of Concentrix Philippines, said Bacolod AIU is “not just a new building,” but also the company’s “way of enabling Bacolod talent and affirming its long-term commitment to regional footprint and local communities.”
“This new site provides us with a bigger space and excellent amenities that reflect the workplace of the future and significant potential for further growth,” he added.
Concentrix site director John Robert Planta, a native of Bacolod with 18 years of industry experience, led the launch activities on May 28.
“We’re proud of the ‘Sweet Byte’ launch event for Concentrix Bacolod AIU as it seamlessly merges our passion for innovation with Bacolod’s local flair,” he said.
Concentrix Philippines currently employs over 100,000 individuals across more than 50 sites in 20 cities nationwide.
Llamas said Bacolod has seen an increase in full-time employees in the IT-BPO sector this year, now estimated at 40,000, with a total of 17 companies operating in the city.
"Two of these are new players, and at least three existing companies have signified further expansion plans,” she said.
