Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) has signed agreements with two construction firms to finish the remaining portions of the Cavite–Laguna Expressway (Calax), a major public-private partnership project aimed at easing travel between the two provinces.
MPCALA Holdings Inc., the concessionaire of Calax, confirmed on Wednesday that EEI Corp. will undertake Subsection 1 from Open Canal to Kawit, while CM Pancho Construction Inc. will build Subsection 2, connecting Governor’s Drive to Open Canal.
The 45-kilometer tollway has been partially operational since 2019, with existing interchanges in Laguna Technopark, Laguna Boulevard, Santa Rosa–Tagaytay Road, Silang East, and Silang Aguinaldo. Work is ongoing for Subsection 3, which will link Silang Aguinaldo to Governor’s Drive.
Once fully completed by the first half of 2026, Calax is expected to reduce travel time between Cavite and Laguna from two hours to just 45 minutes. The project is also seen to spur economic activity along the corridor by improving connectivity to industrial, commercial, and residential areas.
