Korean firms eye New Clark City, Poro Point investments

The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) is exploring partnership with two South Korean firms for projects in New Clark City in Tarlac and Poro Point in La Union, which are properties of the government-owned and controlled corporation, according to a report by Philippine News Agency.

In a statement Monday, BCDA said its president and chief executive officer Joshua Bingcang and officer-in-charge senior vice president Mark Torres recently met with Moon Engineering Co. Ltd. and Jin Systems Co. Ltd.

Moon Engineering, an engineering and consulting firm, eyes to partner with BCDA for the feasibility study to upgrade the San Fernando Airport in the Poro Point Freeport Zone.

Managed by Poro Point Management Corp., the San Fernando Airport has limited operational capacity, only serving chartered flights and flying schools.

Upgrading the airport will help in accommodating more commercial flights and strengthen the position of San Fernando Airport as a vital transport hub in northern Luzon, the BCDA said.

Meanwhile, Jin Systems is interested to collaborate with the BCDA to deploy and test smart mobility solutions in New Clark City as part of the 2025 K-City Network Smart Solution Demonstration Project.

Jin Systems’ technology is aligned with the BCDA’s vision for the New Clark City, by transforming the 9,450 hectares of land into a smart, sustainable, and green metropolis in Central Luzon.

"We are thrilled to collaborate with South Korean firms, as they are recognized as leaders in infrastructure and smart city development. These potential partnerships will play a pivotal role in advancing infrastructure and integrating cutting-edge technologies in New Clark City and Poro Point," Bingcang said.
