Holcim, Megawide renew cement supply deal

Holcim Philippines Inc. has renewed its supply agreement to provide the cement requirements of Megawide Construction Corp., according to a report by Philippine Star.

In a statement yesterday, the building solutions provider said the firms renewed their supply partnership with the signing of the agreement earlier this month.

Under the agreement, Holcim will be providing the cement requirements for the precast and construction solutions (PCS) projects of Megawide across Luzon this year.

The partnership with Megawide is a continuation of the collaboration between the two firms that started in 2016.

Amid higher demand for cement among Megawide PCS projects, Holcim said there was also a 20 percent increase in the volume supplied from last year.

“With our renewed supply agreement with Holcim Philippines, Megawide has reinforced its linkage with a like-minded partner who supports our vision of a first-world Philippines,” Megawide executive vice president Markus Hennig said.

“Our synergy will help form the country’s major infrastructure that are built with Megawide’s innovative solutions and Holcim’s high-quality cement products,” Hennig said.

Holcim Philippines president and CEO Horia Adrian said the firm is grateful for Megawide’s continuing trust in Holcim’s ability to support the construction of important development structures in the country.

“We look forward to providing Megawide’s cement supply needs in 2024 and continuing engagements on possible collaborations to advance innovative and sustainable building in the Philippines,” Adrian said.

Megawide has taken part in building several important infrastructure projects in the country, such as the Malolos-Clark Railway and the Metro Manila Subway.

Megawide also has property development projects through unit PH1 World Developers Inc.

Holcim Philippines, meanwhile, has been accelerating efforts to support innovative and sustainable construction in the country.
