Alliance Global Group Inc. (AGI), led by prominent tycoon Dr. Andrew Tan, has announced plans to develop a $300 million integrated resort and casino in Boracay, complementing its $400 million project in Mactan. The new Boracay World Resorts will be part of the group's 150-hectare Boracay Newcoast township and aims to start operations by next year.
In an interview at the Inside Asian Gaming Summit, AGI President and CEO Kevin Andrew L. Tan described the Boracay project as a boutique development. "It's not going to be very big. It's like a boutique style. We want it to be just right for the island, with a more sustainable design," Tan said. He emphasized that the smaller scale of the casino is intended to harmonize with Boracay's natural environment.
The Boracay World Resorts will feature a combination of free-standing villas, hotel suites, and a golf course. The group already owns an 18-hole golf course and a private beach within the Boracay Newcoast area. The planned resort aims to enhance the island’s appeal to international tourists, integrating luxury with the island's natural beauty.
In addition to the Boracay project, AGI is moving forward with a $400 million casino and resort in Mactan. This larger development will span 30 hectares in the Mactan Newtown and is expected to break ground early next year, with commercial operations slated for 2026. The project has received local government support and is currently seeking a gaming license from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation.
Tan highlighted that both projects reflect AGI's commitment to redefining luxury tourism in the Philippines by blending sophisticated resort features with sustainable and regionally appropriate designs.
