Philippines nominated for 7 world tourism awards

Philippines continues its tradition of excellence in tourism, securing seven nominations at the esteemed 2024 World Travel Awards (WTA). This recognition reaffirms the country's status as a premier destination on the global stage, building on its previous successes in the industry.

Among the nominations, the Philippines stands out in categories such as Asia’s Leading Beach Destination, Asia’s Leading Dive Destination, and Asia’s Leading Island Destination. Additionally, iconic landmarks like the historic Walled City of Intramuros, the captivating Boracay Island, and the enchanting province of Cebu have received nominations in various prestigious categories.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) has also been recognized once again, nominated as Asia’s Leading Tourist Board, highlighting its unwavering commitment to promoting and enhancing the country's tourism sector.

DOT Secretary Christina Frasco expressed gratitude for the nominations, acknowledging the tireless efforts of the department and its stakeholders in showcasing the Philippines' diverse and captivating attractions. Frasco emphasized that these nominations are a testament to the dedication and hard work put in by all those involved in the tourism industry.

The Philippines' tourism achievements in 2023 were highlighted, with notable accolades including the title of World’s Leading Dive Destination for the fifth consecutive year. Other recognitions include Destination of the Year by TripZilla and prestigious awards from the WTA for City Destination and Cruise Destination.

In addition to celebrating past successes, the Philippines remains focused on future endeavors, aiming to further elevate its tourism offerings and strengthen its position as a leading global destination.

Voting for the WTA is currently open until July 28, providing an opportunity for travelers and industry professionals to show their support for the Philippines' outstanding tourism initiatives.
