Rice, banana, and root crop farmers of Barangay Libo,Carigara, Leyte will soon benefit from a paved road with the fast-approaching completion of an ongoing farm-to-road (FMR) in the area.

The ongoing convergence project between the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Department of Agriculture (DA) is now on the final phase despite the heavy rainfall brought by the recent typhoons that hit the country.

According to DPWH Secretary Mark Villar, the P11.9-million FMR which stretches 436 meters with drainage is aimed for completion before the end of the year,

DPWH Leyte 2nd District Engineering Office is implementing the project to promote inclusive growth and deliver quality infrastructure and better access roads to local farmers and residents in the far-flung area.

“Travel time will cut short with the help of this project and this will not just farmers improve their deliveries, social services will be more accessible too,” said Secretary Villar. (DPWH)
