DPWH set to finish new Bohol bridge

The Department of Public Works and Highways said Monday a bridge project in Bohol province is expected to open in the first half of 2022 that will improve mobility of goods and people and provide greater access to the tourism sites in the province, according to a report by Manila Standard.

DPWH Undersecretary Emil Sadain said the construction of the new Clarin Bridge along the Bohol Circumferential Road is at 82-percent completion rate and would be completed before the term of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte ends in June 2022.

The two-lane Clarin Bridge will replace the old bridge damaged during the Bohol earthquake in 2013.

Sadain instructed contractor Vicente T. Lao Construction in partnership with Indonesia’s PT Wijaya Karya to expedite the construction of roads leading to the main bridge.

Sadain also reminded that at this stage of pandemic which slows down construction activities and causing project critical delay, health and safety risk assessments of every worker should be conducted regularly consistent with medical and government guidelines, and contractors’ duty to provide a safe working environment.
