Membership retail establishment, Landers Superstore, announced the opening of its P500-million branch in Bacolod City by March 2023, which is expected to generate about 500 jobs for residents, according to a report by Philippine News Agency.

To rise on a 2.5-hectare property inside Megaworld’s The Upper East township, its outlet here will be the first in Western Visayas.

Pieter Lukman, chief operations officer of Landers Superstore, said Bacolod has been selected as the site for the new store due to its thriving economy and for being one of the most business-friendly cities in the country.

“We are very excited for Landers to further expand in Bacolod,” Lukman said during a media briefing held at Park Inn By Radisson here.

In a statement, Landers Superstore said there is an increasing demand for premium goods and experiences from the city’s growing population that will ensure a steady market for its core business.

Before launching its store expansion, Landers has been working with the Negrense Volunteers for Change Foundation in its numerous outreach activities in Bacolod and the rest of Western Visayas under the Mingo Meals Nutritional Support Program.

Graham Coates, first vice president and head of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, said they are also excited to host Landers inside The Upper East township, which is envisioned to become Bacolod’s newest central business district.

“This will be one of our anchor commercial establishments that will be directly connected to our iconic Upper East Mall,” he added.

Landers Superstore Bacolod, which will open across two residential condominium developments and upcoming business process outsourcing office towers, will be directly connected to the west wing of the soon-to-rise three-level Upper East Mall through a 30-meter long bridgeway.

The Bacolod branch is the fourth Landers store under Megaworld, after Landers Alabang West, Landers Arcovia City and Landers Uptown Bonifacio.

“Our strategic partnership with Landers has gone a long way. They are an important component of our rising modern townships,” Coates added.
