PUEBLO DE ORO Development Corporation (PDO) has partnered with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to address the growing demand for skilled workers in Metro Cagayan de Oro. This collaboration aims to enhance the region’s workforce capabilities, support economic growth, and create sustainable livelihood opportunities.
PDO, through its corporate social responsibility arm, the ICCP Group Foundation, Inc. (IGFI), signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with TESDA. The partnership focuses on meeting the needs of the construction sector and other industries while contributing to the development of Metro Cagayan de Oro.
TESDA-10 Regional Director, Rafael Y. Abrogar II, highlighted the importance of the agreement. “TESDA’s role is to train individuals for employment. This partnership with PDO will benefit not only the private sector but also the unemployed and those in need of skills to improve their livelihoods,” said Abrogar.
The partnership is important in supporting PDO’s projects, including Masterson Mile North, a luxury condominium complex, and a planned World Trade Center.
“PDO is committed to delivering high-quality developments, and we need a skilled workforce to meet our standards. TESDA’s role in upskilling workers is essential to achieving this,” PDO officials said.
These projects aim to position Cagayan de Oro as a center for innovation and commerce. The partnership with TESDA ensures that the local workforce is prepared to support these initiatives.
IGFI Executive Director Ronnie M. Tapnio noted the significance of the partnership as a model for public-private collaboration, saying, “This MOA reflects our shared goal of creating opportunities, building capacities, and empowering communities in Cagayan de Oro. We are committed to working with TESDA to achieve these objectives.”
IGFI has a history of successful partnerships with TESDA including advanced manufacturing workforce development initiatives in Luzon. These programs align with Industry 4.0 which focuses on digital transformation and automation in manufacturing and business processes.
As Metro Cagayan de Oro continues to grow, PDO’s partnership with TESDA demonstrates its commitment to workforce development and community empowerment. By investing in skills training, PDO contributes to the region’s long-term economic growth ensuring that Metro Cagayan de Oro remains a hub of opportunity and progress.
