PEZA: Auto sector key to sustainable, tech-driven future

The Philippines reinforced its position in the global automotive supply chain with the opening of the Auto Parts & Vehicle Expo (APV) 2025, a three-day international trade event held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

The event, which began on July 25, gathered automotive and mobility stakeholders from both the public and private sectors, including government officials, manufacturers, and industry leaders from across the Asia-Pacific.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Deputy Director General for Policy and Planning Anidelle Joy M. Alguso said the expo reflects the country’s growing contribution to the global mobility landscape. She was joined by Malaysian Ambassador to the Philippines Abdul Malik Melvin and representatives from various regional trade and industry groups.

“APV Expo 2025 is not just an event, it is a convergence of visionaries and industry movers who share the same mission: driving the Philippines toward progress through sustainable innovation and global competitiveness,” Alguso said.

She cited the Philippines’ economic fundamentals, preferential trade access, and young workforce as critical advantages, especially in expanding roles across electric vehicle (EV) technologies and regional supply chains—from wire harnesses to component manufacturing.

PEZA also highlighted ongoing alignment with national policy frameworks, including the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA Law) and the Philippine Development Plan. These efforts aim to strengthen the full EV value chain, covering research, production, infrastructure, and logistics, backed by fiscal and non-fiscal incentives.

According to PEZA, 66 registered enterprises have invested over %u20B1121 billion in the automotive sector as of 2024, creating jobs for more than 51,000 Filipinos. Many of these firms are now pivoting to electric and connected mobility solutions, with several showcasing their innovations at the expo.

The event served as a platform for partnerships, investment exploration, and knowledge exchange on electric mobility, sustainability, and technological retooling.

Running through the weekend, APV Expo 2025 brought together auto manufacturers, parts suppliers, and public-private leaders committed to advancing a competitive and future-ready mobility ecosystem in the Philippines.
