PASAY CITY – The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) capped off a remarkable year by honoring six outstanding companies in December 2024 for their significant contributions to the nation’s economic growth. The awardees were recognized for their excellence in operations, environmental sustainability, community engagement, and export performance, reaffirming PEZA’s role in fostering a dynamic business environment.
PEZA Director General Tereso O. Panga led the ceremonies, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the private sector and government in driving innovation and sustainable economic development. “As PEZA celebrates the achievements of these outstanding locator companies, it reaffirms its commitment to fostering a thriving business environment that drives economic growth, innovation, and sustainability in the Philippines,” Panga said. “Through these awards, we reiterate the vital role of private sector partners in shaping the country’s progress.”
This year, PEZA presented awards to six companies: Denso Ten Philippines Corporation, TDK Philippines Corporation, Qiagen Manila, Inc., International Wiring Systems (Phils.) Corp., Canon Business Machines (Philippines), Inc., and the Philippine Associated Smelting & Refining Corporation (PASAR). The awards were presented at their respective facilities located within PEZA ecozones, including the First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) in Batangas, Luisita Industrial Park in Tarlac, Laguna Technopark, Inc., and Cyber Sigma in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
Director General Panga shared that this year’s ceremonies took a more personal approach, with PEZA visiting the awardees’ facilities to honor their contributions. “We’ve taken a more personal approach by bringing the celebration directly to our locators to pay homage to each of them who has been with us for the last 29 years and more,” he said.
The PEZA Excellence Awards recognized 13 outstanding companies, with one more scheduled for recognition in January 2025. The ceremony also included site visits that showcased the awardees’ recent innovations and achievements.
Outstanding Community Projects Award
Denso Ten Philippines, TDK Philippines, and Qiagen Manila were presented with the Outstanding Community Projects Award for their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives that have positively impacted local communities. These companies have implemented programs that range from education and healthcare to environmental sustainability, exemplifying how businesses can contribute beyond economic success.
Outstanding Exporter Award
International Wiring Systems (Phils.), Corp. received the Outstanding Exporter Award for its impressive export performance, which helped generate significant foreign exchange earnings. The company exported goods worth over $300 million in 2023 and has contributed over PHP 3 billion in investments while providing employment to more than 10,000 Filipinos.
Hall of Fame Recognition
TDK Philippines was inducted into the PEZA Hall of Fame for receiving the Outstanding Environmental Performance Award from 2021 to 2023. The company has been a leader in adopting renewable energy and carbon-neutral practices in its manufacturing operations. TDK’s environmental and CSR initiatives have made a lasting impact on both the industry and the local communities in which it operates.
Canon Business Machines (Philippines), Inc. also achieved Hall of Fame status for its exceptional export performance from 2021 to 2023, with more than $202.66 million in export value. Canon has been a consistent recipient of PEZA awards since 2016 and continues to contribute significantly to the Philippine economy.
Billionaire’s Award
PASAR, the largest copper smelting and refining company in the Philippines, was awarded the Billionaire’s Award for its outstanding export performance, reaching $2.754 billion. As one of PEZA’s longest-standing registered export enterprises, PASAR has played a vital role in the Philippines’ export sector for over four decades.
In closing, Director General Panga reaffirmed PEZA’s commitment to supporting its locators and promoting investment in the Philippines. "We assure our locators of our full support in your endeavors geared towards propelling communities into greater heights and advancing our initiatives—for the environment and our people, para sa Bagong Pilipinas," he said.
