PEZA, TESDA team up to bolster Filipino workforce

The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) have forged a strategic partnership to enhance the skills of the Philippine workforce, aimed at addressing the evolving demands of the economy.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed on January 22, 2025, at the PEZA Head Office in Pasay City, with PEZA Director General Tereso O. Panga and TESDA Director General Secretary Jose Francisco B. Benitez leading the event.

The collaboration seeks to better align the country’s skills training programs with industry needs, ensuring the development of a globally competitive workforce capable of driving economic growth and attracting investments.

One key aspect of this partnership is job matching, particularly for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), who are being integrated into the local labor market to further support the economy.

The MOU signing was attended by officials from both agencies, alongside representatives from PEZA-registered locator companies, who are expected to benefit from this enhanced talent pool.

By addressing skill gaps and improving the alignment of workforce capabilities with business demands, this partnership is poised to contribute significantly to the Philippines' economic development.
