The Ayala Group in partnership, with the local government unit of Makati, reported plans to expand the electric vehicle (EV) charging network within the central business district to more than 100 charge points in over 22 locations, according to a report by Manila Standard.
This followed the launch of the country’s largest EV charging network. The project is a partnership between Ayala Land Inc., AC Mobility, the Makati Commercial Estate Association (MACEA) and the Makati city government.
There are now 70 charge points at 16 locations across Makati found in key commercial, business and residential areas.
The network includes the country’s first super-fast chargers. These are designed to reduce charging time and improve convenience for EV users.
The project is aimed at making EV charging more accessible. The stations are located in popular areas such as One Ayala, Greenbelt, Glorietta, and Tower One. They are also available in major parking areas like Valero, Dela Rosa and Corinthian.
The expansion aims to support the growing number of EVs in the country and promote clean energy use. It is also part of a broader push to reduce emissions and modernize urban infrastructure.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) in January 2025 provided financing package of up to $100 million to support Ayala Corp.’s development of an electric mobility ecosystem in the Philippines.
The funding will be used to procure and install electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS) and to purchase electric vehicles for commercial distribution.
