PAL awarded Philippines best travel brand

Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) has emerged as the best travel brand in the country and the second best in Southeast Asia in recognition of the service quality it provides to its passengers, according to a report by Philippine Star.

Ad magazine Campaign Asia gave PAL a score of 63.15 percent in its annual index of best travel brands in Southeast Asia, enough for the airline to land the highest in the Philippines.

PAL stood out as the travel brand to beat, besting the likes of low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific (54.9 percent), booking app Klook (51.75 percent) and Middle East carrier Emirates (49.95 percent).

The Lucio Tan-owned airline landed the highest rating for buying experience, customer service and brand awareness. Campaign Asia hailed PAL as “a firm favorite among Filipino consumers,” recognizing its history as the oldest operating airline in Asia.

In Southeast Asia, PAL managed to climb as the second best travel brand just behind flag carrier Vietnam Airlines. The airline posted an average of 76.05 percent, allowing it to sit comfortably in front of the pack thanks to positive feedback from Vietnamese travelers.

Still, PAL outperformed some of the region’s most popular travel brands like Thai Airways, Thai AirAsia, Garuda Indonesia, KAI (Korea Aerospace Industries), Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines, Nok Air and Cebu Pacific.

PAL vice president for marketing Alvin Miranda said the airline would keep on finding ways to improve travel experience, especially as it is expanding its domestic and international reach.

“We are happy and proud to be recognized as a top Southeast Asian travel brand and we continue to explore more ways to further elevate the passenger experience all across our global network,” Miranda said.

Yearly, Campaign Asia comes up with a list of the best brands in Southeast Asia, with a focus on industries like automotive, electronics, finance and travel. The list, developed with data analyst Milieu Insight, evaluates specific areas on brand awareness, purchase frequency, service quality, among others.

Recently, PAL has also made it to the list of the most punctual airlines in Asia and the Pacific, as it turned in the seventh best on-time rate in the region in 2024. PAL was also the only Philippine carrier to join that index.

To date, PAL has the widest international network among domestic airlines, flying to 40 foreign cities–some of which are in North America—and 32 Philippine destinations.

PAL, however, is also building up its domestic coverage by adding new routes and more flights in its hubs outside of Metro Manila, such as Cebu.
