Two housing developments, Golden Sunrise and South Savannah, will provide homes for families displaced by the Department of Transportation's (DOTr) North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) Extension Project, the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) said.
The projects, located in Barangay Malainen Bago, Naic, Cavite, demonstrate the SHFC and DOTr's commitment to community-driven housing, SHFC President and CEO Federico Laxa said at a groundbreaking ceremony on Jan. 30.
"These housing projects...are designed to be highly livable, offering essential utilities and convenient access to key facilities and services," Laxa said. The projects are part of an inter-agency effort to address displacement, he added.
DOTr Undersecretary Jeremy Regino, Naic Vice Mayor Junio Dualan, and Japan International Cooperation Agency representative Fukui Keisuke also expressed support.
Laxa reiterated SHFC’s support for the NSCR project and thanked the Naic local government, community members, the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), the Department of the Interior and Local Government, the Philippine National Railways, the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor, and the Commission on Human Rights.
Dualan emphasized the project's collaborative nature. "This is not just a relocation project—it is a collaborative effort between government agencies, the local government, and the community,” he said.
Golden Sunrise will house more than 2,520 families on over seven hectares, while South Savannah will accommodate 2,000 families on six hectares.
Naic, 47 kilometers south of Metro Manila, offers a balance between suburban living and access to business districts in Dasmariñas and General Trias. It is connected to Metro Manila and other provinces via CAVITEX and the Tanza-Trece Martires Road.
The SHFC also implements the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program, under DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar. Upcoming 4PH developments include Crystal Peak Estates in San Fernando City, Pampanga, People’s Ville in Davao City, and Valley View Township in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental. Another 4PH project, Parlas, is under construction in Naic.
