The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has partnered with Danish company Danfoss to develop a decarbonization program for New Clark City, aiming to position the area as the Philippines' first green metropolis. BCDA President Joshua Bingcang and Danfoss Philippines General Manager Allan Alfredo Almendrala formalized the collaboration by signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on September 16.

The program will focus on implementing sustainable urban solutions to reduce carbon emissions and improve the quality of life in New Clark City. Danfoss will conduct technical assessments, feasibility studies, and business case preparation for decarbonization initiatives.

Key technologies to be explored include smart store systems, district cooling, and the establishment of a Sustainability Technology Center.

"This MOU is a significant step in our efforts to transform New Clark City into a smart, sustainable, and resilient metropolis," said Bingcang. He emphasized that the city could become a model for other cities worldwide striving for net-zero carbon emissions.

Danish Ambassador to the Philippines Franz-Michael Mellbin praised the partnership, highlighting its potential to accelerate green urban development and improve the lives of Filipinos. Danfoss, along with the Danish embassy, will provide expertise on energy-efficient, carbon-neutral technologies to support New Clark City's vision of a sustainable future.
