PH, Singapore agree to boost transport partnership

Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista held an Introductory Meeting with the Minister for Transport of Singapore H.E. Mr. S Iswaran on Sunday, 16 October.

During the bilateral meeting of the Philippines and Singapore, DOTr Secretary Jaime emphasized the accelerating pace for the fulfillment of new and long-delayed development projects that will make the most impact in all sectors - the Aviation and Airport, Railways, Road Transport and Maritime - and that which will give the country’s transport system accessible, affordable and comfortable life for every Filipino.

For the railway sector, the PH and SG talked about the ongoing projects and discussed the additional support on building out of the Metro Manila Subway project (MMSP), Metro Rail, and other rail projects in the country.

For the aviation and airports sector, both parties tackled the ways to enhance the air service agreement and broadly the transport partnership, including the areas to consider and ways to enhance the airport projects.

In addition, the parties discussed the way forward for aviation projects, particularly the use and promotion of sustainable aviation fuel.

Furthermore, several project proposals were likewise set forth, in a bid to modernize the country’s road-based transport system including the privatization of projects toward greener land transport.
