The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) will mark its sixth anniversary this week, reaffirming its commitment to deliver safe, decent yet affordable housing and sustainable communities to homeless Filipinos.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar remained focus to lead transformative housing initiatives through President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s flagship Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino or 4PH Program.
With the theme “Six Years of Empowering Lives: Building Homes, Building Futures for Every Filipino Family,” the anniversary celebration will highlight significant housing initiatives and celebrate the milestones achieved by DHSUD in the past six years.
The weeklong celebration opens on Monday with a housing exhibit participated in by various stakeholders including partner-developers, showcase of ongoing 4PH projects, housing financial options offered by key shelter agencies (KSAs), among others.
Over the subsequent days, clients and visitors will have access to free legal consultations, information on the ongoing 4PH projects, direct assistance from the Pag-IBIG Fund regarding housing loans, explore housing programs from the National Housing Authority, the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) and the National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC).
In line with the celebration, DHSUD will air two episodes of ‘Kapihan sa DHSUD: Housing Matters’ live on its official Facebook page on February 11 and 13. The discussion will bring together local chief executives and beneficiaries of DHSUD programs. Key DHSUD officials will also serve as talking heads to discuss future endeavors of the Department.
On the Department’s commitment to improve sustainable communities, a ceremonial signing of the Comprehensive Land Use Plan, and Provincial Development Physical Framework Plan for cities and provinces will happen on February 13, which include Angeles City, Agusan del Sur, and Negros Occidental, Northern Samar, Pasig City, Bulacan, Laguna, Sarangani, Siquijor, and Zamboanga Del Norte.
The anniversary celebration on Friday, February 14, will highlight DHSUD’s milestones and commitment to addressing the country’s housing backlog with top government officials expected to attend.
Aligned with the “Bagong Pilipinas” brand of governance under President Marcos Jr., the event reinforces the department’s dedication to sustainable and inclusive housing for all.
The Department will also conduct an Anniversary Fun Run on February 16, fostering engagement and teamwork among the employees of DHSUD and its key shelter agencies.
More than a celebration, DHSUD’s anniversary marks a new era of an unwavering commitment to crafting policies and providing affordable housing options — transforming lives, strengthening communities, and building a better future for the nation.
