ASEAN’s tourism sector is moving to raise standards, improve connectivity, and inspire greater travel across the region with the launch of the 39th ASEANTA Tourism Awards and the Discover ASEAN Microsite in Jakarta on Friday.

Speaking at the ASEAN Secretariat, Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa said the twin initiatives reflect the bloc’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and collaboration between the public and private sectors.

“This is a concrete manifestation of our collective commitment, demonstrating how digital innovation, public-private collaboration, and shared sustainability values can transform our regional tourism landscape,” she said.

The ASEANTA Tourism Awards will honor excellence in sustainability, innovation, and quality, with Ni Luh stressing that such achievements should serve as a benchmark for all stakeholders.

Meanwhile, the Discover ASEAN Microsite — developed in partnership with AirAsia MOVE — offers travelers an accessible gateway to explore the region’s diverse destinations, stories, and cultural heritage.

Ni Luh said the platform responds to the evolving behavior of global travelers, helping to connect communities and cultures while fostering mutual understanding.

“These initiatives reaffirm our shared aspiration to make ASEAN a region not only visited but also cherished and remembered,” she said, urging continued innovation and collaboration to secure the region’s position as a preferred global destination.
