Developer to build new 260-room hotel in Makati

A major property developer is expanding its hospitality footprint with a planned 260-room hotel in Makati City under a global hotel brand, officials said.

Ayala Land Hospitality (ALH), the hotel arm of a large developer, announced it has signed an agreement with Marriott International to bring the Moxy Hotels brand to the Philippines. The upcoming hotel will rise within Circuit Makati, a 21-hectare mixed-use development located on the former Sta. Ana racetrack site.

The new property is expected to offer access to retail areas, event venues, and public open spaces, contributing to the district’s growing live-work-play environment.

Moxy Hotels is positioned as a lifestyle brand catering to experience-seeking travelers, with features such as flexible guestroom designs, social common areas, meeting rooms, and a fitness center.

“This is the perfect fit for dynamic urban destinations filled with culture and entertainment,” said Kevin Iranzo, director of hotel development for Marriott International in the Philippines.

The agreement supports the developer’s broader goal of doubling its hotel room inventory to 8,000 by 2030, a target aligned with efforts to support tourism and urban development in key markets.

ALH President and CEO George Aquino said the project will focus on delivering vibrant experiences while contributing to local identity and creative culture. “With Moxy Hotels, we offer travelers a playful and vibrant hotel experience,” he said.

Creative director Paloma Urquijo Zobel de Ayala added that the hotel would draw inspiration from local visual storytelling, aiming to reflect the creative pulse of the city.

Marriott International currently operates 12 hotels under six brands across the Philippines and plans to introduce more properties in both established and emerging destinations in support of the country’s tourism growth.
