Hot air balloon festival held in Legazpi

A colorful spectacle filled the skies above Legazpi on Saturday, June 14, as the Bicol Loco II: Hot Air Balloon and Music Festival officially opened at the Old Legazpi Airport grounds.

Organized by the City Government of Legazpi with strong support from the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region V, the three-day event has quickly cemented its status as one of the Bicol Region’s premier tourism celebrations.

Now on its second edition, the festival dazzles locals and tourists alike with hot air balloon flyouts, aerobatic exhibitions, skydiving stunts, car drifting demos, and paramotor formations—all unfolding against the majestic backdrop of Mayon Volcano.

Crowds are also gathering for the music lineup, which includes a mix of top Filipino talents and international performers. Headliners such as P-Pop powerhouse SB19, singer-songwriter Rico Blanco, hitmaker Zack Tabudlo, and Bicolana artist Dwta share the stage with South Korean actors and performers Kim Ji Soo and Kim Won Shik.

To support the influx of visitors, DOT Region V has set up a dedicated booth at the festival venue, offering assistance and promoting DOT-accredited destinations and tourism services across the Bicol Region.

The event continues to build momentum as a major tourism draw for Albay, offering a fusion of adventure, entertainment, and regional pride. The festival runs until Monday, June 16.
