Mindanao Business Conference opens in Tandag City

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) has opened its highly anticipated area business conference, the 31st Mindanao Business Conference (MinBizCon), to discuss how to harness and develop the immense potential and vast resources of Mindanao, according to a report by Manila Bulletin.

The three-day conference with the theme “One Mindanao: Bigger, Better, and Bolder!”, opened on Wednesday, Aug. 31, at the Northeastern Mindanao University Gymnasium in Tandag, Surigao del Sur. Tandag City is dubbed as the next investment destination in Mindanao.

The event is also co-hosted by the Local Government of Tandag City and the Province of Surigao del Sur.

“The conference boasts of a program packed with high-caliber speakers, panelists who offer valuable insights and bright fresh ideas on developing a region/destination stereotypically regarded as high investment risk,” said the Conference Director and TCCI President John Vincent Pimentel.

Over 20 notable speakers from the public and private sectors who believe in the vast potential of abundant resources in the southern Philippines will discuss braver commitment and bolder, bigger aspirations for Mindanao.

“Having the forum temporarily halted due to pandemic-induced restrictions, it is our pride that the MinBizCon is back in full-force where visionary business leaders, reform-oriented senior government officials, business-friendly local governments, and innovative business organizations converge to foster inclusive growth and progress for Mindanaoans,” Arturo Milan, the PCCI-Area Vice-President for Mindanao shares.

Following the theme “ONE MINDANAO: BIGGER, BETTER, AND BOLDER!,” the discussions mainly focus on three thematic panels namely: the impetus to scale up economic production and extend broader government support in BIGGER MINDANAO; the need to improve business conditions and attain sustainability through BETTER MINDANAO, and; the critical importance of a bold and visionary leadership that can ferry a BOLDER MINDANAO through the new normal.

“It’s high time for aggressive promotion of Mindanao. We are optimistic that the anticipated 1,000 attendees will maximize the forum for cross-border trade and investment opportunities as well as enhancing local development and tourism prospects. With many local economies reopening, the island is bustling!” said Julie Senese, the PCCI-Regional Governor for Eastern Mindanao.
