The P140.2-million construction of a new Barra Bridge which replaces an old dilapidated steel bridge along Barra-Minaog Road in Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte is now substantially-completed.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar said DPWH Regional Office 9 reported that the bridge replacement project in Barangay Barra is now 98.5 percent completed with remaining works on the approaches and road safety markings.

“We are hoping to complete the project very soon as Barra Bridge serves as a vital link of motorists going to Dipolog City’s Airport. This would support development in the city known for its wild orchids and its sardine industry,” added Secretary Villar.

DPWH Regional Office 9 headed by Director Cayamombao D. Dia implemented the replacement project of the  2-lane Barra Bridge which covers the removal of existing old steel bridge and construction of new permanent bridge with a length of 120.84 meters and approach of 179.16 meters.

Barra-Minaog Road is an alternate route from City Proper of Dipolog to the City’s Airport and the shortest route from Dipolog City Poblacion to Dipolog City Airport and Dapitan City.

Secretary Villar said that the improvement of Barra Bridge and the entire route would mean safer and more efficient mobility. (DPWH)
