The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a road concreting project along Catigbian-Canmano Road’s Catigbian Section that provides access to some of Bohol’s tourist destinations.
DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar said that DPWH Bohol 1st District Engineering Office (DEO) oversaw the implementation of the P18.98-million tourism road project that involves the upgrading of a 800-meter gravel road into a two-lane concrete paved road with shoulder on both sides and single arm post street lightings.
In his report to Secretary Villar, DPWH Bohol 1st District Engineer Francis Antonio Flores said that the paved section is part of Catigbian-Canmano Road that serves as an alternative road to Bohol’s Sagbayan Peak, Chocolate Hills, and Danao Adventure Park.
Other than helping the tourism development in the area, the newly-improved road will also meet the standards of the agri-industrial sector of the province.
“By accomplishing this road concreting project in Catigbian, Bohol, we are ensuring a more efficient transport of goods and local products in the area, which we hope can uplift the economic status of the residents of the town and its nearby communities,” said Secretary Villar.
The concreting project along the Catigbian Section of Catigbian-Canmano Road, which started civil works in February 2020, was funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2020. (DPWH)
