More Filipino families are set to enjoy the comforts of decent and affordable homes as two new housing projects were rolled out in Malabon City and Novaliches on Wednesday.
Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario spearheaded the ceremonial turnover of two high-density housing projects carried out by the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) in coordination with the local government units.
Lauding SHFC for a job well done, the housing czar graced the ribbon-cutting and ceremonial turnover for the three-story Marangal Village Homeowners Association Inc. High Density Housing (HDH) in Brgy. Longos, Malabon City, and the four-story Samahang Magkakapitbahay Na Nagkakaisa HOA Inc. HDH in Brgy. San Agustin, Novaliches, Quezon City.
“Seeing these projects, within a few seconds, I can say already that these are housing projects that we can be proud of…decent yet very affordable,” Secretary Del Rosario stressed.
Secretary Del Rosary reiterated that DHSUD considers shelter as a right of every Filipino family and it is the responsibility of the department to capacitate low-income families to have access to decent and affordable shelters.
“Ito ay basic right na dapat maging inherent sa isang pamilyang Pilipino. Ito ay para maging direksiyon ng lahat ng aming ginagawa in terms of policy-making, finance modalities, as well as producing housing units,” the DHSUD chief added.
He likewise said that the Department, together with its key shelter agencies such as SHFC, is not just building housing units, but rather housing communities that residents can be proud of. And lastly, they aim to ensure that no sub-standard housing units are constructed under the Duterte administration.
The Malabon project will benefit 282 member-families of a local homeowners’ association.
SHFC President Ricardo Arnolfo Cabling, in his message, meanwhile, stated that the corporation’s projects are carried out in coordination with the private sector, LGUs and most especially, members of the general public.
“All those in the danger zones, everybody should be included, no matter what is your status in life, no matter how much is your combined family monthly income, we have to be inclusive, we have to provide a program for all the Filipinos. This is actually your project, not ours, because it is community-driven,” he noted.
Also taking part in the activity were Malabon City Mayor Antolin Aquino Oreta III and Malabon District Representative Josephine Lacson-Noel, who both expressed their gratitude to DHSUD and the KSAs for assisting their locality and making the project a reality. In Novaliches, Quezon City 5th District Rep. Alfred Vargas extended Mayor Joy Belmonte’s gratitude to DHSUD and SHFC for the completion of the HDH project.
The newly constructed four-story building in Novaliches will accommodate 92 informal settler families living along the Tullahan River.
