SM City Tagum rises as Davao’s next lifestyle hub

Construction of a major new commercial development in Tagum City, Davao del Norte is making steady progress, with the building now reaching its second level. The three-storey mall project—set to be the province’s first large-scale retail center from a major developer—has become a focal point of activity, with multiple tower cranes operating on-site.

Strategically located in Barangay Magugpo (Poblacion), the site sits directly across from existing malls, NCCC Mall Tagum and Gaisano Mall of Tagum, positioning it at the heart of the city’s commercial district. The ongoing development is part of broader efforts to expand retail and lifestyle infrastructure in Mindanao’s growing urban centers.

Once completed, this will be the first supermall in Davao del Norte and the third such development within Metro Davao. Local stakeholders view the project as a sign of growing investor confidence in the region, which has seen rising demand for commercial spaces, employment opportunities, and enhanced public amenities.

Officials have not yet announced a target completion date, but based on current construction activity, the site is expected to open in the coming years, joining a growing roster of urban infrastructure projects reshaping regional hubs outside Metro Manila.
