PEZA, TESDA to establish skills training center in Mactan

On June 19, 2024, the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Mactan Economic Zone (MEZ) administration and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Region VII held a preliminary meeting to discuss the establishment of a Skills Training Center within the MEZ. This initiative follows a Memorandum of Agreement signed by both parties on June 30, 2022.

The proposed Skills Training Center aims to enhance the skills development and training programs available to workers and stakeholders within the economic zone. This aligns with PEZA's strategic plans to create a skilled local workforce to meet the needs of current and prospective investors.

Representatives from TESDA, led by Regional Director Ramon Evan T. Ruiz and Regional Operations Division Chief Jocelyn V. Cabahug, attended the meeting to provide valuable insights to the MEZ locator representatives. The PEZA MEZ team was represented by Zone Administrator Emmanuel Cortero, Deputy Zone Administrator and Support Services Department Manager Engr. Jhovs Medico, along with other members of the PEZA MEZ Training Center Committee.

The collaboration between PEZA and TESDA signifies a strong commitment to fostering local talent and ensuring that the workforce within the economic zone is well-equipped with the necessary skills to support industrial growth and attract further investment.
