“Before the end of the year, seaweed farmers of Dumaran, Palawan will have a much better road going to and from seaweed plantations.”

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar made the statement citing DPWH Palawan 1st District Engineering Office’s (PFDEO) report on the ongoing construction of a 2.12-kilometer, 2-lane access road project that leads to seaweed plantations in Barangay Danleg, Dumaran.

“DPWH is now working on concreting the entire 2.12-kilometer local road in Barangay Danleg which is part of our convergence program together with the Department of Trade and Industries (DTI) that aims to support small-scale entrepreneurs, most especially our local farmers,” said Secretary Villar.

The road project which started in 2018 involves the opening and construction of a 2-lane road that will hasten the delivery of seaweed products to other business centers in the island.

DPWH-PFDEO carried out the multi-year project with combined cost of P68.6 Million from the 2018 and 2020 General Appropriations Act (GAA). (DPWH)
