The Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport Authority (APECO) has officially relocated its Manila satellite office to a more cost-effective space in Parañaque City’s Aseana City business district, a move that is expected to save the government approximately PHP4 million annually.

APECO President and Chief Executive Officer Gil Taway emphasized that the transfer aligns with the agency’s commitment to fiscal prudence and responsible use of public funds.

“We recognize the need for every government organization to operate with fiscal prudence, especially at a time when resources are scarce and need to be maximized for the greater good of the Filipino people,” Taway said in a statement Friday.

Previously located in Pasay City, APECO’s office rental costs have been significantly reduced from PHP1,154 per square meter to PHP600 at the new location in Parqal Building 1.

“The savings we will generate from this initiative will allow us to bankroll revenue-generating infrastructure projects in APECO,” Taway added.

The move is also expected to enhance operational efficiency as the Parqal facility offers modern amenities, including flexible meeting spaces, improved communication infrastructure, and energy-efficient design to further reduce costs.

In a related development, renewable energy firm Pacific Impact reaffirmed its USD25-million investment for a 25-megawatt (MW) solar project in the Casiguran ecozone.

Pacific Impact Executive Director James Timko confirmed that the project’s first phase will involve the installation of solar panels with a total capacity of 10 MW.

Pacific Impact President Darwin Deato added that preparations are underway for meetings with the Aurora Electric Cooperative (Aurelco) and the submission of necessary documents to the Department of Energy (DOE) for the service contract.

The relocation of APECO’s office and ongoing investments in renewable energy highlight the agency’s efforts to optimize resources and promote sustainable development in the ecozone.
