Australian trade mission set to visit PH in 2025

Australia is preparing to send another trade mission to the Philippines in 2025, aiming to support the country’s digitalization efforts and drive economic growth through cutting-edge technology. Australian Ambassador to the Philippines HK Yu made the announcement during a media reception, highlighting the growing opportunities for collaboration between the two nations.

“President Marcos' priority is to digitalize your country. This digital transformation can serve as a platform to drive economic growth, linking more people to the online economy and various economic activities,” Yu said.

She emphasized that Australian companies, known for their advanced technology, are eager to partner with local firms in the Philippines to help accelerate this transformation.

In addition to fostering partnerships in technology, the upcoming trade mission will also address cybersecurity. “When you're looking at digitalizing your economy, cybersecurity is an important component. I can see this being a key part of the mission to the Philippines next year,” Yu added.

Earlier this month, a high-level Australian delegation visited the Philippines as part of a two-day business mission, led by Shemara Wikramanayake, CEO of Macquarie Group, and supported by Ambassador Yu.

During the visit, the delegation met with Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Eli Remolona Jr. and engaged in discussions with senior BSP and Department of Finance officials on key economic issues, including monetary and fiscal affairs.
