Construction firm bags CALAX, hotel projects, lifting order book to P39.2B

EEI Corp. has secured two new contracts worth P19.1 billion in the third quarter, raising its total order book to P39.24 billion in the first eight months of 2025.

The construction firm said the fresh deals signal a rebound in project activity after muted performance a year ago. The new wins include the construction of a subsection of the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) and the Arcovia Hotel in Pasig City.

The CALAX Subsection 1 project, valued at P2.7 billion, was awarded by MPCALA Holdings Inc. It covers roadway infrastructure, drainage systems, and other related works. The toll road is part of a broader network designed to improve connectivity between Cavite and Laguna, easing traffic congestion in southern Luzon.

Meanwhile, property developer Megaworld Corp. tapped EEI to construct the Arcovia Hotel in Pasig City. The scope of work includes civil, structural, and architectural finishing, as well as painting and waterproofing. The development will be part of Megaworld’s Arcovia township, a mixed-use estate along C-5 Road.

“These new project wins mark a significant turnaround for EEI, reflecting our resilience, competitiveness in the industry, and renewed growth momentum,” said Anna Payawal-Figuera, senior vice president and head of commercial and operations, in a disclosure to the stock exchange.

Analysts said the company’s order book expansion mirrors improving sentiment in both infrastructure and property development, with public works and private sector investments providing growth opportunities.

EEI is among the country’s leading engineering and construction companies, with a portfolio covering power, transport, industrial, commercial, and residential projects. The firm’s stronger pipeline comes as the government accelerates its “Build Better More” infrastructure program and developers expand hospitality, office, and mixed-use investments across key urban centers.
