Eco-Focused Community Rises South of Metro Manila

A new 34-hectare township project just outside Alabang is setting its sights on becoming a model of sustainable and wellness-oriented living.

Architect Cathy Saldaña, who leads the master plan, said Southlinks Estate is “one of the last jewels in the metropolis,” emphasizing its unique integration of nature and accessibility. Nearly 60 percent of the estate is dedicated to open spaces, including gardens, tree-lined walkways, and parks. Native trees such as narra, ipil, and ilang-ilang are being preserved as part of the development’s design philosophy.

“When you change their habitat, they leave. Why cut and replace with something foreign? Here, we’re propagating the same species, keeping the aroma and memory of place alive,” Saldaña explained.

Despite its tranquil setting, the township is strategically located 10 minutes from Alabang Town Center and accessible through MCX, SLEX, CALAX, and the Skyway. Saldaña noted that the location makes commuting convenient even for frequent travelers, adding: “You’re always on counter-traffic.”

Lot sizes range from 400 to 1,200 square meters, providing flexibility for families. At the heart of the community will be a 1.4-hectare clubhouse featuring rainwater harvesting, natural ventilation, swimming pools, sports courts, and event spaces.

Construction is now in progress, with homeowners expected to begin building by 2026. Saldaña said the project aims to promote not just healthier lifestyles, but also long-term value for investors.

“Sustainability is not just a buzzword. It’s about health, wellness, family, and creating pride of place,” she stressed.
