The Philippines will showcase its innovative Climate Resilience Technology (CResT) platform at San Francisco Tech Week, aiming to attract potential investors for the climate-focused project. Developed through a collaboration between the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), DEVCON Philippines, and De La Salle University (DLSU), CReST aims to address critical challenges related to climate resilience.
CReST offers solutions such as life-saving warning systems, improved access to renewable energy, enhanced disaster resilience, and the use of robotics in reforestation efforts. DEVCON founder and president Winston Damarillo announced that the platform will take center stage at the Kapwa Gardens event in San Francisco on October 8.
"As we collaborate to establish the Philippines as a global hub for climate tech, our vision extends beyond our borders. Through the CReST platform, we are laying the foundation for a sustainable future with solutions that have local impact and global reach," Damarillo said.
The project, which will be tested and scaled across various regions in the Philippines, holds potential for adoption in other climate-vulnerable nations. Under the partnership, DEVCON leads CReST’s development, while DLSU, through its Animo Labs, provides the necessary research infrastructure and resources.
Damarillo emphasized the urgency of the climate crisis and the crucial role technology plays in addressing it. “The climate crisis is a race against time, and technology is our fastest vehicle to win. Through CReST, we are not only protecting our communities but also establishing the Philippines as a leader in climate tech," he said.
