Philippines nominated in three categories at Wanderlust Travel Awards

The Philippines has been nominated in three major categories in the 24th Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards, a recognition hailed by the Department of Tourism (DOT) as a significant milestone for the country’s international tourism profile.

According to a public advisory released Monday, the UK-based Wanderlust magazine shortlisted the Philippines for the “Most Desirable Country” (worldwide) award. Meanwhile, Cebu and Palawan were nominated in the “Most Desirable Region” and “Most Desirable Island” categories, respectively.

The Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards is organized by the UK’s longest-running travel publication and remains a notable benchmark for global travel preferences. The Philippines is also eligible to win in several subcategories such as Culture and Heritage, Nature and Wildlife, Adventure, Gastronomy, and Sustainability.

Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco welcomed the nominations, saying they highlight the country’s appeal across diverse categories.

“These nominations are a testament to the Philippines’ breathtaking destinations, vibrant culture, and the hospitality of our people,” Frasco said, encouraging both local and international supporters to participate in the public voting process.

Voting for the 2025 awards is open until October 27, 2025, through the Wanderlust official website. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony scheduled for November 5, 2025, at the National Gallery in London.
