Township developer teams up with global hotel chain Accor

A leading real estate developer in the Philippines has partnered with international hospitality group Accor to rebrand and manage several homegrown hotel properties in the country.

The initiative, led by Megaworld Corp. through its hospitality arm Megaworld Hotels & Resorts, involves integrating select properties into Accor’s global network, including the group’s reservation systems and loyalty program, ALL ACCOR.

Accor—whose global portfolio includes Sofitel, Raffles, Fairmont, Pullman, and Mercure—will begin operations with Belmont Hotel Mactan in Cebu, which will be rebranded as Mercure Mactan Cebu within the year. The 410-room property is located within The Mactan Newtown township in Lapu-Lapu City.

The rebranding is expected to elevate guest experiences through improved services, global standards, and international perks. Guests will soon be able to earn loyalty points and access other benefits across Accor’s properties worldwide.

Currently, Megaworld Hotels & Resorts operates 13 hotels nationwide, including properties under the Richmonde, Belmont, Savoy, and Kingsford brands. The company plans to expand to 20 hotels and 9,000 rooms within three years, with upcoming openings in Palawan, Pampanga, Bacolod, and Iloilo.

“This partnership enables us to bring in world-class hospitality systems while showcasing local excellence,” said Megaworld Hotels & Resorts Managing Director Cleofe Albiso. She emphasized that this collaboration would contribute to tourism growth and economic opportunities, particularly in key destinations like Cebu.

Accor’s Chief Development Officer for Asia, Andrew Langdon, confirmed that the Philippines remains a strategic market for the group, citing rising demand for travel infrastructure that caters to both leisure and business travelers.

Future hotel openings under this collaboration include Savoy Hotel Palawan, Chancellor Hotel Boracay, and Kingsford Hotel Bacolod. The initiative aligns with a broader strategy to elevate Philippine tourism offerings and attract more international visitors.
