Newly-built drainage systems protect communities in Calape, Bohol

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of flood control structures that will protect residents of barangays Liboron and Tultugan in Bohol’s Calape town in time for the rainy season.

DPWH Bohol 1st District Engineering Office (DEO) implemented the construction of Barangay Liboron’s P9.62-million drainage system with a total length of 640 linear meters, as well as the P9.50-million drainage system in Barangay Tultugan that spans 500 linear meters.

Both structures aim to reduce hazards from extreme floods while also saving lives, livelihood, and properties in the event of typhoons. 

According to Secretary Mark Villar, an increase in security for land agriculture, livestock industry, and infrastructure is also expected through the completion these projects.

Funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2020, the construction of the projects simultaneously started in February 2020 and were completed in less than five (5) months.
