Phinma expands into community housing projects in Davao, Bacolod

Phinma Corp. is making its foray into the community housing sector with plans to build affordable homes in Davao and Bacolod this year, marking a new venture for the diversified conglomerate.

The company's chairman and CEO, Ramon del Rosario, announced the initial project will focus on creating not just homes, but entire communities. Phinma's community housing initiative will include not only housing units but also essential services like daycare centers, skills upgrading facilities, and employment opportunities, ensuring holistic support for families in these areas.

"We're starting small, but with a clear vision. Our first project will be in Davao, where we aim to build 200 affordable units. These homes will range from P750,000 to P800,000, and we want to ensure we're delivering value at scale, without compromising quality," del Rosario explained.

After Davao, Phinma is planning to extend its community housing efforts to Bacolod. Initially, the company considered a project in Iloilo, but issues with the land's suitability have led them to search for alternative sites in the area.

To support the development of these projects, Phinma plans to partner with organizations like Gawad Kalinga, ensuring a collaborative effort in creating accessible, sustainable communities. Del Rosario emphasized the importance of this initiative, comparing it to Phinma’s impact in education.

"This is part of Phinma’s commitment to provide accessible housing to underserved sectors. Just as we’ve been building decent educational opportunities, we now aim to do the same in housing," del Rosario concluded.
