In collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) conducted a briefing on the new guidelines on the Alien Employment Permit (AEP) last 11 February 2024 at the PEZA Head Office.
"This is a result of our combined efforts with the DOLE and BI to further enhance the ease of doing business in the country, particularly in the implementation of the PEZA Visa. As you may know, we recently sealed a data sharing agreement with DOLE and BI for the seamless exchange of information between PEZA, DOLE, and BI and ensure the efficient implementation of the PEZA Visa," said PEZA Director General Tereso O. Panga.
DOLE Undersecretary and PEZA Board Member Atty. Benedicto Ernesto R. Bitonio Jr. also highlighted during his speech the importance of stable labor relations in enhancing the competitiveness of the country as an investment haven. He also took the opportunity to mention that the Agency is conducting skills mapping which aims to enhance the access of PEZA locators and incoming investors to the labor supply.
"We hope that all of us will work together so that we can continue supporting our national objectives of creating more job opportunities for Filipinos as well as attracting more investments to the Philippines for the benefit of the country," expressed Usec. Bitonio.
PEZA was the first agency to be given briefing by DOLE on Department Order No. 248 s. 2025 stating the New Rules and Regulations on the Employment of Foreign Nationals in the Philippines. The orientation also served as an avenue for locators to raise concerns and questions on the PEZA Visa application, requirements, and processing.
The briefing was attended by more than 300 by representatives of PEZA locators both physical and online.
