SHFC gets 'unmodified opinion' from COA

The Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC), under the leadership of President and CEO Federico Laxa, has once again received an “unmodified opinion” from the Commission on Audit (COA) for its financial statements for Calendar Year 2024.

This marks the second consecutive year that SHFC has earned this distinction, reflecting its strong adherence to sound financial reporting practices and principles of good governance. An unmodified opinion indicates the corporation’s financial statements are presented fairly and in accordance with applicable financial reporting frameworks.

SHFC is one of the primary implementing agencies of the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program—President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s flagship housing initiative aimed at closing the country’s housing gap by delivering affordable, safe, and inclusive homes for every Filipino family.

Laxa credited the back-to-back recognition to the agency’s strengthened internal controls, professionalism, and commitment to transparency. “This achievement reflects the dedication of our workforce in ensuring that SHFC operates with integrity and accountability,” he said. “We remain fully committed to delivering not only decent and affordable housing to Filipinos but also responsible stewardship of public resources.”

SHFC, with guidance from Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar, continues to scale up its housing developments across the country, with more than 30 projects currently underway and over 160 more in the pipeline.

People’s Ville in Davao City has already welcomed its first batch of residents. Meanwhile, Crystal Peak Estates in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga, is also ready for occupancy. Housing units in Valley View Township in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental and San Miguel de Manila Residences in Manila in Manila are likewise set to be awarded to their intended beneficiaries. Meanwhile, construction is in full swing in other key sites, including Port Town and Tandikan Ville in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

Despite the rapid growth in its portfolio, SHFC remains firmly committed to sound financial management and good governance. The latest audit result further cements the agency’s position as a reliable partner in nation-building and underscores its role in shaping a future where every Filipino has access to dignified shelter.
