Pueblo De Oro Development Corp. (PDO), the property development arm of the ICCP Group, has achieved preliminary EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) certification for the Pueblo De Oro Residences Malvar in Batangas.
An innovation of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), EDGE is an internationally recognized certification system that awards resource-efficient building design. EDGE certification is accepted by the major green finance standards and charts a path towards zero carbon development. The EDGE Certification was awarded to Pueblo de Oro by the Philippine Green Building Initiative (PGBI), IFC’s EDGE certifier partner.
“We are honored to be awarded the EDGE Certification,” said PDO President and COO Prim Nolido, “The certification validates our commitment to integrate sustainability in the development of our projects and assures our clients of quality and eco-friendly homes.”
“The latest EDGE certification for Pueblo de Oro Residences is a testament to PDO’s strong commitment to bringing sustainable homes to Filipino families, said Jean-Marc Arbogast, IFC Philippines Country Manager. “We look forward to continue working with PDO in rolling out green design for its residential projects, and hopefully encourage others to support green building projects,” he said.
EDGE focuses purely on resource efficiency. To reach the EDGE Standard, a building must achieve at least a 20 percent reduction in energy, water, and embodied energy in materials compared to a conventional building.
In awarding the certification, PGBI reported that the Residences Malvar’s innovative house design resulted in improvements of 20.0% in energy efficiency, 51.8% in water efficiency, and a staggering 71.8% in embodied energy in materials used compared to a typical housing unit.
For the homeowner, these translate to an estimated energy savings of 623.2 kWh per housing unit per year and 72.6 cubic meters of water per unit per year. In addition, operating carbon emissions are lower by 0.3 tCO%u2082 per unit per year.
The Pueblo de Oro Residences Malvar is one of three exclusive residential subdivisions within Townscapes Malvar, a 42-hectare township, complemented by five hectares of commercial area and an educational hub. The project was masterplanned by internationally acclaimed design firm Pomeroy Studio, whose works include the Kallang Alive in Singapore and BSD Digital Hub in Indonesia.Article Details
