DPWH to complete multi-year bypass road project in Roxas, Isabela

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is set to complete the construction of a 4.9 kilometer bypass road project in Roxas, Isabela that aims to provide better accessibility of commuters, farmers, and traders from outlying barangays and municipalities in the area.

Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the implementation of the first, second, and third phases of the P271-million multi-year project has already been accomplished through DPWH Isabela 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO).

Secretary Villar explained that civil works on the completed sections of the bypass road includes concreting of 4.44-kilometer two (2) inner lanes road and the construction of Baramban Bridge 2 spanning 18 lineal-meters, with drainage structures and reinforce concrete box culvert provision.

Originally proposed to be four (4) lanes concrete road with 13.4 meter carriageway, the implementation of the final phase of the bypass road construction will be undertaken by DPWH Regional Office 2.

When fully completed, the bypass road is eyed to provide alternate route for commuters and give additional capacity by diverting vehicles around high-build-up areas to alleviate traffic congestion.

“Easing the transportation between communities in the area will allow for a faster and more convenient means of delivering goods, expanding economic activity and livelihood particularly in the agricultural sector, which was heavily affected by recent calamities that hit Isabela,” said Secretary Villar.
