PEZA promotes Aerotropolis ecozones at aviation summit

Pasay City, Philippines — On October 3, 2024, Vivian S. Santos, Deputy Director General for Operations of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), took center stage as a panelist on the second day of the 2024 Aviation Summit held at the Marriott Hotel in Pasay City. The event focused on the theme, "Climbing Toward Sustainable, Safe, Smart Philippine Aviation."

During the panel discussion, Santos outlined PEZA’s mandate, specifically highlighting the fiscal and non-fiscal incentives available to attract foreign investment into the airport and aviation industry. She discussed the role of aerotropolis ecozones, developed in collaboration with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), as a driving force for economic growth in the Philippines.

These innovative ecozones, according to Santos, are expected to stimulate job creation, enhance infrastructure development, and boost local economies. She emphasized that the integration of sustainable practices and a focus on innovation within these ecozones would support long-term economic resilience and growth in the country.

PEZA also outlined its strategic focus on aerospace manufacturing and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services as part of its plan to position the Philippines as a regional aerospace hub, aiming to attract significant foreign investments in the sector.
